Verizon expands 5G enterprise network in the U.S. to cover 24 cities

On the morning of April 16, Beijing time, Verizon, the largest telecommunications company in the United States, said on Thursday that it will launch 5G Internet services for enterprises in 21 cities in the United States this month. In addition to the previously covered Chicago, Houston and Los Angeles, 24 cities will Will become a beneficiary.

In the service provided by Verizon, the speed includes three types: 100Mbps, 200Mbps, and 400Mbps, which are oriented to large enterprises and small and medium-sized enterprises, and there is no traffic restriction. For new customers, the price is locked within 10 years, and there is no need to sign a long-term contract.

Verizon began to launch 5G services last year, the speed is similar to the T-Mobile network, but slower than AT&T. Verizon plans to promote the 5G enterprise network to the whole of the United States, so that enterprises can use video collaboration tools and edge computing. It should be noted that Verizon's 5G service is provided through a fixed wireless network.

When companies collect large amounts of data in a certain place, such as factories, oil wells, and offices, edge computing can use AR and machine learning technology for analysis. At this time, data needs to be transmitted at ultra-high speeds, and 5G networks are useful.

Verizon has worked with Microsoft and Nokia to help customers automate factory operations, reduce costs, and use private 5G networks to increase data transmission speeds.
