South Korea's three major operators launch service to convert paper documents into text messages
The authorized notification SMS service includes MMS and Converged Communications (RCS) content and provides the same legal status as registered mail, the three companies said.
Operators hope to contribute to environmental protection by reducing the number of paper documents to be mailed and increasing their environmental, social and governance (ESG) value.
Customers must confirm their identity in order to access the Services, including viewing electronic notices. The system uses existing text messaging capabilities, eliminating the need for a separate app, and the recipient's phone number is not available to the agency sending the document.
These operators jointly operate a call distribution system to securely deliver certified electronic documents to customers.
