In recent years, 5G is undoubtedly the smart technology that has attracted the most attention. Compared with the traditional 2G, 3G and 4G, 5G has the obvious characteristics of high speed, low latency, and large capacity. Since South Korea took the lead in launching 5G commercial use in 2019, my country has also followed the pace and launched commercial use in June of the same year. For example, in terms of network development, industrial capabilities, and application innovation, my country has taken the lead.

According to the latest data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, my country has currently built more than 819,000 5G base stations, accounting for about 70% of the world's total; at the same time, the number of 5G mobile phone terminal user connections reached 280 million, accounting for more than 80% of the world's total; 5G standard essential patent declarations accounted for The ratio exceeds 38%, and there are more than 9,000 5G application innovation cases. my country's 5G system has basically formed a leading advantage in the system.

Among them, in terms of detailed 5G applications, although my country has not yet achieved a fully mature commercial development, many innovative commercial roads have been explored, and 5G has been continuously integrated into thousands of industries. At the World Telecommunications and Information Society Day conference held on May 17, the demonstrations brought by many companies, including the three major operators, showed us rich application possibilities.

At the conference, China Telecom launched a 5G cloud package to meet the multi-scenario information consumption needs of individuals and families and build a digital life on the cloud. It is reported that the 5G cloud package breaks the traditional package communication service model with traffic, voice, and SMS as the basic structure, and realizes a cloud for everyone and a cloud for every family. China Telecom's 5G + cloud network integration has empowered traditional industries.


China Unicom, on the other hand, takes 5G as a strategic traction to lead the development, showing more than 300 5G lighthouse projects it has built. In August last year, China Unicom released 5G private network and private line products. By focusing on key areas and industries to create multiple 5G lighthouse projects, it has achieved commercialization for the enterprise field and greatly promoted the development of enterprise business.

In addition, China Mobile is fully implementing the "5G+" plan to promote the integration of 5G into all industries and serve the public, including integration with many industries such as transportation, electronics, communications, and industrial Internet. In general, my country's 5G applications have ushered in a new stage of comprehensive exploration and blossoming. With the increasing number of innovative applications, the future commercial popularity is worth looking forward to.

However, it is not easy to achieve the ultimate commercial maturity, and my country still needs to make many efforts. So, how do we do it? At the World Telecommunications and Information Society Day conference, Liu Liehong, the Vice Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, put forward 5 suggestions, which are worth learning and thinking about!

Liu Liehong proposed that if my country wants to maintain 5G advantages and accelerate commercial maturity, it must first strengthen planning and lead and systematically promote the development of 5G applications; secondly, it must consolidate the industrial foundation, improve network supply capabilities, industrial innovation levels, and security assurance capabilities; thirdly, it must enrich integration Application, expand key industry applications, and refine typical application scenarios; in addition, it is necessary to optimize the ecological environment, strengthen government coordination, and enhance market dynamics; strengthen international cooperation to create a 5G high-level open system.
