2021 global semiconductor industry capital expenditure will be nearly 150 billion U.S. dollars
The American Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) stated
in its latest report that in 2021, the capital expenditure of the global
semiconductor industry is expected to reach nearly 150 billion U.S. dollars,
and it will exceed 150 billion U.S. dollars in 2022.
On the 29th, the American Semiconductor Industry Association
(SIA) stated in its latest report that in 2021, the capital expenditure of the
global semiconductor industry is expected to reach nearly 150 billion U.S.
dollars, and it will exceed 150 billion U.S. dollars in 2022.
It is reported that before 2021, the annual capital
expenditure of the global semiconductor industry has never exceeded US$115 billion.
SIA said that the global semiconductor industry is planning to meet the
expected market growth in the next few years through record manufacturing and
R&D investments.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, more and more people work and
study at home, leading to increased market demand for various semiconductor
products such as chips used in smartphones and computers.
In addition, semiconductors have become an indispensable
part of modern cars. They play an active role in engine management, temperature
control, in-car entertainment, and collision safety. However, global supply
shortages are causing auto brands to cut production.
In May of this year, the market research organization IDC
stated that, driven by the continued strong growth of consumption, computing,
5G and automotive semiconductors, global semiconductor revenues are expected to
surge 12.5% in 2021 to reach US$522 billion.
In addition to global semiconductor revenues expected to
grow in 2021, the scale of the global semiconductor materials market will also
grow. In April this year, the International Semiconductor Industry Association
(SEMI) stated that in 2021, the global semiconductor materials market will grow
by 6% to reach 58.7 billion U.S. dollars.
