5G news enters the development phase with all efforts

5G messaging is a huge upgrade to the traditional short message service, which can support content such as text, pictures, videos, emoticons, locations, and contacts.

As one of the earliest attempts to commercialize 5G, the current 5G news has attracted much attention. At present, my country’s 5G message application pilots have extensively covered many industries such as government affairs, finance, logistics, medical care, education, industry, entertainment, agriculture, etc. The standard system is basically completed, infrastructure construction is in full swing, and terminal technology is fully prepared, and it is continuing from the incubation period. High-speed strides forward to the development period.

In April 2019, China Mobile, China Telecom, and China Unicom jointly held an online press conference and released the "5G News White Paper", marking the first appearance of the "5G News" heavy commercial scene. The white paper shows that 5G messaging applications mainly cover two types of scenarios. One is message interaction between individuals, and the other is message interaction between individuals and industry users. The emergence of 5G news, whether it is for personal 5G applications or industrial 5G commercial use, as well as the transformation and upgrading of various fields are crucial.

Subsequently, a large number of mobile phone manufacturers expressed support for the 5G news and provided support for popularized applications and commercial landing. Among them, Huawei entered the pilot area in March 2020 to start joint debugging and testing, and officially launched 5G message commercialization in June; at the same time, ZTE also opened up the 5G message first call in April of that year, and officially supported 5G message commercialization in June; plus Samsung's full range of products support RCS business, and will fully support 5G news in 2020. More than a dozen companies have jointly helped promote the landing of 5G news.

And entering August 2021, the 5G messaging working group recently united with China Association of Communications Enterprises, China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, China Telecom Group, China Mobile Communications Group, China United Network Communications Group, ZTE, Huawei and other 7 units to establish 5G news. Joint laboratories to carry out 5G message-related technical verification work, once again creating a good ecology for the commercial use of 5G messages. The industry predicts that with the continuous acceleration of ecological construction, the full commercial use of 5G news in the future will be just around the corner and the prospects are promising.

According to data released by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, my country has shipped 163 million 5G mobile phones in 2020, and a total of 218 new models in the market. Judging from these data, the number of domestic 5G mobile phone users has reached hundreds of millions. Since 2021, the further acceleration of 5G construction and the continuous acceleration of 5G development have continued to promote the continuous growth of 5G users. In this context, 5G messaging services are expected to usher in a wider range of applications. However, before this, issues such as 5G message charges still cannot be ignored.
