According to news from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology on January 30, the number of mobile Internet of Things users in my country is rapidly expanding. By the end of 2022, the number of connections will reach 1.845 billion, a net increase of 447 million from the end of 2021, accounting for 70% of the global total.

By the end of 2022, the total number of mobile communication base stations will reach 10.83 million, with a net increase of 870,000 throughout the year. my country has initially formed a pattern of coordinated development of narrowband Internet of Things (NB-IoT), 4G and 5G multi-network, and the network coverage capability continues to improve. Among them, the narrowband Internet of Things has the largest scale in the world, achieving continuous coverage in major cities and towns across the country; the 4G network has achieved universal coverage in urban and rural areas across the country; the 5G network has covered all counties and urban areas.

The number of mobile Internet of Things connections is growing rapidly, and "things" connections are rapidly surpassing "person" connections. Statistics show that by the end of 2022, the total number of terminal connections in my country's mobile network has reached 3.528 billion, of which the number of mobile Internet of Things terminal users representing the number of "thing" connections is 161 million higher than the number of mobile phone users, accounting for 3.5% of the total number of mobile network terminal connections. The proportion reached 52.3%.

The application scenarios are constantly enriched, and the industrial chain continues to improve. my country has formed a relatively complete mobile IoT industry chain covering chips, modules, terminals, software, platforms and services. The NB-IoT has formed four million-level applications of water meters, gas meters, smoke detectors, and tracking, and seven million-level applications such as white goods, street lights, parking, and agriculture. The scale of mobile Internet of Things terminals applied to public services, Internet of Vehicles, smart retail, and smart home reached 496 million, 375 million, 250 million, and 192 million households respectively. Intelligent logistics and consumer Internet of things and other fields to expand.

The relevant person in charge of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology stated that during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, the deep coverage of the mobile Internet of Things network will be realized for key scenarios, and a basic network that combines fixed-mobile integration and wide-narrow integration will be formed to accelerate the collaborative integration of mobile Internet of Things technology and thousands of industries. The quality and efficiency of economic development are improved, social services are smart and efficient, and people's lives are convenient and fast.
