The world's first home 10 Gigabit Modem was successfully tested: download and upload exceeded 4 Gigabit!

U.S. telecommunications service provider Comcast announced today that it has successfully completed the world's first home 10Gbps 10-gigabit demodulator prototype test in the laboratory, bringing home users a multi-gigabit wired broadband experience .

The demodulator used in this test is based on the full-duplex DOCSIS 4.0 SoC built by Broadcom. Combined with the 10 Gigabit network, the measured download and upload speeds exceeded 4Gbps, which is 4 Gigabit.

An experimental DOCSIS 4.0 mode Hybrid Fiber Coax (HFC) network was also used in the test.

In October 2020, Comcast experimented with 1.25 gigabit upload and download on commercial networks using NFV (Network Function Virtualization) and DOCSIS (Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification).

In April 2021, Comcast tested the 10G SoC in the lab for the first time.

In October 2021, Comcast successfully tested a complete 10G 10G network using the DOCSIS 4.0-based vCMTS (virtualized demodulator terminal system).
