Huawei Wang Tao: UBB target network in the 5.5G era, leapfrogging digital productivity

UBB network development has experienced an upgrade from 'connection-centric' to 'experience-centric' in the past. In order to allow anyone, anywhere to use digital services conveniently and efficiently, further improving digital productivity

[ UAE , Dubai , October 12 , 2023] At the 2023 Global Ultra-Broadband Summit Forum, Wang Tao, Huawei Managing Director and Director of the ICT Infrastructure Business Management Committee, delivered a speech on the theme of " UBB Target Network in the 5.5G Era, Leap to Digital Productivity " The speech shared the latest thinking and practice of the ultra-broadband industry, and discussed the perspectives and strategic directions of accelerating the popularization and application of digital technology by upgrading ultra-broadband networks (UBB), thereby leaping into digital productivity.

Wang Tao, Managing Director of Huawei and Director of the ICT Infrastructure Business Management Committee, delivered a keynote speech

The deep integration of digital technology and the real economy brings about progress in social productivity, which we call digital productivity. It is gradually becoming the core engine of the development of the digital economy. Digital technologies such as cloud, big data, AI, 5G, and ultra-broadband networks are constantly upgraded. In the form of digital services, they promote the digital transformation of smart enterprises, enhance the entertainment, life, and work experience of smart homes, and continue to improve digital productivity.

Wang Tao said: "UBB network development has experienced an upgrade from 'connection-centered' to 'experience-centered' in the past. In order to allow anyone, anywhere to use digital services conveniently and efficiently, we will further enhance digital productivity. , UBB will open a new stage of 'productivity-centered' network evolution in the 5.5G era, provide ubiquitous 10G access, elastic ultra-broadband transmission, and hyper-converged data center computing power supply for the popularization of digital services, and create a new generation of Digital infrastructure accelerates the development of the digital economy. Huawei will work with customers and industry partners to promote the intergenerational evolution of F5.5G and Net5.5G, promote the development of the ultra-broadband industry, and leapfrog digital productivity."

The requirement to leapfrog digital productivity poses three key challenges to the UBB network: for the production of digital services, it is necessary to support the supply of ultra-large-scale computing power for digital services; for the transmission of digital services, it is necessary to provide high-performance transport capacity to support a large number of users. Concurrent use; for access to digital services, it is necessary to ensure ubiquitous high-speed access and high-quality experience of digital services.

Looking to the future, the "productivity-centered" UBB target network upgrade mainly includes the following aspects:

Build ubiquitous “40G” ultra-broadband access: Accelerate the upgrade of mobile broadband, home networks, enterprise networks and enterprise dedicated lines to 10G ultra-broadband access, support ubiquitous 10G mobile broadband, and create seamless coverage throughout the house The 10G home network improves the 10G connection experience of enterprise campus networks, provides flexible and high-throughput 10G computing dedicated line services, provides high-quality 10G connections for the whole society, and accelerates the popularization of digital services.

Converged bearer network, upgrade to high-quality, highly elastic network: Ubiquitous "40G" drives the upgrade of the converged bearer network, IP and optical metropolitan area networks fully deploy 400G and evolve to 800G, and the backbone network enters the 400G era, improving the network Transport capacity; introduce end-to-end OXC (all-optical cross-connect) to create an experience delay circle of 1ms for access, 5ms for metropolitan area, and 20ms for national areas, ensuring the experience of delay-sensitive services.

Hyper-converged data centers release 100% of AI computing power: The data center network moves towards an advanced hyper-converged architecture to meet the needs of general computing, storage, H PC and AI computing power. It adopts 800GE high-speed interconnection to greatly improve investment efficiency. The congestion notification algorithm is introduced to achieve zero packet loss in the network and improve IOPS performance by 85%. At the same time, a network-level load balancing algorithm is used to build an AI cluster network, improving training efficiency by 20%.

Create a large model in the communications field to achieve network autonomy and self-optimization: drive network autonomy capabilities from automation and digitalization to intelligence. The application of large communication models realizes human-computer interaction, intent-driven and autonomous self-optimization, accelerates the evolution of ADN (autonomous driving network) to L4 highly autonomous, and doubles the per capita network management efficiency.

Finally, Wang Tao called on “Ultra-broadband is a key infrastructure to accelerate the development of the digital economy. It requires the collective efforts of all parties to jointly promote the development of the ultra-broadband industry and popularize digital services by promoting policy formulation, accelerating business innovation, accelerating product application and building an industrial ecosystem. , a leap forward in digital productivity. ”
