By the end of 2021, 5G users worldwide will exceed 580 million
According to the news on June 17th, according to the Ericsson Mobile Report recently released by mobile communication equipment manufacturer Ericsson, it is estimated that, driven by about 1 million new 5G mobile users every day, 5G mobile users will exceed 580 million by the end of 2021. It is estimated that by the end of 2026, 5G users will reach 3.5 billion, and 5G population coverage will reach 60%.
However, the speed of adoption varies from region to region. Europe started slowly, and continues to lag far behind China, the United States, South Korea, Japan and other countries in the speed of 5G deployment.
It is expected that 5G users will exceed 1 billion two years earlier than 4G LTE. Currently, more than 300 5G smart phones have been announced or launched.
Due to the increasing role of interconnection as a key component of the economic recovery after the new crown pneumonia epidemic, it is expected that this commercial 5G momentum will continue to develop in the next few years.
It is estimated that by 2026, Northeast Asia is expected to account for the largest share of 5G users, reaching 1.4 billion. North America and the Gulf Cooperation Council market are expected to occupy the highest 5G user penetration rates, with 5G mobile users accounting for 84% and 73% of all regional mobile users, respectively.
Fredrik Jejdling, Executive Vice President and Head of Network Business, Ericsson, said: "With the accelerated launch and expansion of our pioneer markets such as China, the United States, and South Korea, we are in the next stage of 5G. Now it is time for advanced use cases to be realized and fulfilled. It’s time for the 5G commitment. Businesses and society are also preparing for the world after the epidemic, and 5G-driven digitalization will play a key role."
