The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology made it clear: Newly connected 5G mobile phones turn on the SA function by default

5G mobile phones are divided into NSA and SA dual modes, and only 5G SA networks can provide the most complete 5G experience. A few days ago, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology Liu Liehong said that newly connected 5G mobile phones will turn on the 5G SA function by default.

At the 2021 World Telecommunications and Information Society Day conference yesterday, Vice Minister Liu Liehong stated that 5G independent networking (SA) functions will be enabled by default for newly connected 5G terminals to accelerate the maturity of new 5G-based consumer terminals and promote the scale of independent networking models. application.

Liu Liehong said that China has achieved a leading advantage in the development of 5G. It has built more than 819,000 5G base stations, accounting for about 70% of the global proportion; 5G mobile phone terminal users have connected to 280 million, accounting for more than 80% of the global proportion.

Regarding the 5G SA problem, the three major operators have previously requested that the SA function be turned on by default. China Mobile requires that from March 1st, the terminal turns on the SA function by default, and the SA switch is not allowed.

NSA and SA are two network standards in 5G networks. The former still requires a 4G core network and is considered a transitional choice. However, 5G NSA cannot be connected to SA base stations, which will cause 5G single-mode phones that only support NSA to fail 5G Go online.

In contrast, SA is connected to the 5G core network and has more powerful functions, which is the direction of 5G development.
