The 5G news of the three major operators finally landed
Since the three major operators jointly released the
"5G Message White Paper" in April 2020, claiming to promote the
upgrade of traditional SMS, the industry has great expectations for the landing
of 5G messages.
A few days ago, as China Unicom announced the launch of 5G
news commercial trials across the country, the curtain of 5G news commercial
landing was finally opened. Prior to this, China Telecom revealed that it will
keep pace with China Unicom and plans to launch it in due course in the fourth
quarter of this year. And China Mobile also released SMS Mini Program 2.0 as a
supplement to 5G messaging to achieve full terminal coverage.
As for whether 5G messaging will become the killer
application of 5G, it remains to be verified. What cannot be ignored is: Prior
to this, all instant messaging has not reached the situation of forming a
rivalry with WeChat. Similarly, what is advertised in 5G news can be done, but
WeChat may not be able to do it. In this way, operators should think about and
manage the 5G news path.
China Unicom: Launch 5G news trial commercial in the
country
A few days ago, China Unicom launched a trial commercial use
of 5G messages nationwide, and launched the "5G Message Experience
Recruitment Campaign" to provide corporate customers and individual users
with free 5G message experience packages. Users with friendly experience will
enjoy richer, more convenient, smart and safer experience. New 5G messaging
experience.
It is understood that China Unicom has built a brand-new 5G
messaging service and information service portal based on the native short
message service of smart terminals, and launched a 5G messaging service for
industry and individual customers, supporting the communication between
individuals and between enterprises and individuals. Real-time dynamic
interaction has multiple characteristics: download-free, intelligent
interactive services, full support for rich media such as pictures, videos, and
locations, based on real-name authentication, and data security and
reliability.
Users can search for the company’s chatbot name in the SMS
interface to directly obtain corporate services, which greatly simplifies the
operation process, shortens the transaction chain, and optimizes the user
experience. At present, dozens of CSPs (Chatbot Service Providers) have been
connected successively, and application scenarios in the fields of smart
finance, smart supermarkets, smart logistics, smart government affairs, and
smart travel will be provided in the initial stage.
With the gradual enrichment of applications, 5G messages are
expected to become the main service portal and carrier for users. As the
official communication service partner of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and
the Winter Paralympics, China Unicom will work with Winter Olympics partners to
jointly create a 5G messaging application based on the Winter Olympics scene,
bringing a new experience of smart Winter Olympics to the public.
China Mobile: SMS Mini Program 2.0 as a supplement to 5G
messaging to achieve full terminal coverage
At the 2021 China Mobile Global Partner Conference held last
week, China Mobile released three innovative products: Super SIM Card, Mobile
Authentication 2.0, and SMS Mini Program 2.0 to break through the coverage
bottleneck encountered in the development of 5G messaging. Among them, the SMS
Mini Program 2.0 can directly display the content of the link through the card,
which means that the SMS link is directly presented in the form of a card
message, which is seamlessly upgraded to a rich media message. Users do not
need to click the link to achieve a similar experience to native 5G messages,
solve the perception problem of SMS applet 1.0, and can be used as a
supplementary solution for 5G messages to achieve full terminal coverage.
In 2020, China Mobile puts forward the product concept of
"5G messages, cloud services without downloading". Users do not need
to download or pay attention. Based on the native SMS entry, they can enjoy
one-stop cloud services such as life, office, and travel, and realize the
communication between messages. interconnection.
In order to solve the problem of limited coverage of 5G
messaging terminals, China Mobile has launched the "SMS applet"
service. Users of non-5G messaging terminals can achieve the same experience as
5G messaging terminals through "one step", which indirectly achieves
full terminal coverage. Now the release of SMS Mini Program 2.0 can be used as
a supplementary solution for 5G messaging to achieve full coverage of
terminals.
In addition, at this conference, Jian Qin, deputy general
manager of China Mobile, said: “In the future, China Mobile’s 5G messaging will
take the mission of'connecting to all industries, integrating all industries,
and empowering all industries' to build SMS into a unified business. Entrance,
building a new service platform for data integration and application
interconnection; opening up value-added capabilities such as unified
authentication, digital signature, big data, and intelligent interaction to
provide more comprehensive capability support for enterprise IT services."
At present, China Mobile has sent more than 1.45 billion 5G
messages cumulatively, entering the fast lane of product development.
China Telecom: Timely launch of 5G message commercial
services in the fourth quarter of this year
Last month, China Telecom revealed that it is actively cooperating
with the industry to jointly promote the construction of a formal commercial
platform for 5G news and preparations for business commercial use. At the same
time, it is also promoting ecological construction and customer introduction,
and launching 5G news partner recruitment. At present, China Telecom has
launched key user-friendly testing work, and will launch commercial services in
due course when conditions are mature in all aspects.
At the China International Information and Communications Exhibition
held in September, Du Chengxin, general manager of the 5G messaging operation
department of China Telecom’s Value-added Service Operation Center, said:
“China Telecom and China Unicom will keep pace, and the basic platform
construction and deployment of 5G messaging has been completed. At the final
verification stage, it will be launched in due course in the fourth quarter of
this year."
