This year's "Government Work Report" proposes to increase the construction of 5G networks and gigabit optical networks to enrich application scenarios.

The global mobile communication network is currently in the transitional period from 4G to 5G. my country's deployment of 5G networks and the promotion of 5G applications based on the cutting-edge are important decisions to satisfy the development of the industry.

First of all, technological innovation has an important driving effect on economic development, and the construction of a 5G network can better broaden the room for economic growth.

As one of the key technologies in the new round of technological and industrial revolution, 5G will be integrated with technologies such as the Internet of Things, big data, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence to form a series of new business models and new models to empower all sectors of the economy and society. According to forecasts, by 2025, 5G can drive network investment of telecom operators by about 1.2 trillion yuan; the cumulative scale of information consumption will exceed 8.3 trillion yuan, and the total economic output is expected to exceed 10 trillion yuan.

Second, the growth of mobile user traffic promotes network expansion, and the evolution of mobile networks to 5G will become an inevitable trend.

In recent years, with the decline of mobile traffic tariffs and the continuous enrichment of mobile Internet applications, the traffic of mobile users has continued to grow. The wide application of high-traffic application scenarios such as online education and remote office has further promoted the rapid growth of mobile Internet traffic. In 2020, my country's mobile Internet access traffic will increase by 35.7% over the previous year. The data traffic of mobile users continues to increase. Under this trend, the original mobile network urgently needs to be upgraded and expanded, and the evolution to the 5G network is the general trend.

It should be noted that my country currently has advantages in 5G technical standards, equipment, networks, and applications. Accelerating the deployment of 5G networks and exploring the development of 5G applications will help transform my country’s leading technological advantages into market advantages and build a solid foundation for my country’s economic and social transformation to digitalization.

Of course, making efforts to build 5G does not mean that we will go ahead blindly without considering the input-output ratio. my country's 5G network construction should adhere to the principle of moderate advancement, match the development path and pace of applications, and continuously reduce the deployment and operation costs of the entire network through continuous optimization of network construction strategies, operation strategies and policy environments, and support as soon as possible with the lowest possible cost. The application landed, thus really boosting the 5G network towards high-quality development.
