According to news on April 22, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology recently announced the economic performance of the communications industry in the first quarter of 2021. The data shows that in the first quarter, the total revenue of telecommunications business was 360.1 billion yuan, an increase of 6.5% year-on-year, and the growth rate increased by 4.7 percentage points year-on-year, and 2.9 percentage points higher than the end of the previous year. The total telecommunications business calculated at the constant price of the previous year was 384.5 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 27.4%.

In terms of 5G users, as of the end of March, the number of 5G mobile phone terminal users connected by the three basic telecommunications companies reached 285 million, a net increase of 86.84 million from the end of the previous year, accounting for 17.8% of mobile phone users.

In terms of fixed broadband users, as of the end of March, the total number of fixed Internet broadband access users of the three basic telecommunications companies reached 497 million, a net increase of 13.71 million from the end of the previous year.

In terms of cellular Internet of Things and IPTV users, as of the end of March, the three basic telecommunications companies had developed 1.192 billion cellular Internet of Things terminal users, a net increase of 56.15 million from the end of the previous year. The total number of IPTV (Internet TV) users reached 325 million, an increase of 9.4 million from the end of the previous year. The number of mobile Internet users reached 1.363 billion, and the penetration rate of mobile phone users was 85.1%, an increase of 0.7 percentage points from the end of the previous year.

It is worth mentioning that my country's 5G network construction is progressing steadily. As of the end of March, the total number of mobile phone base stations in my country reached 9.35 million, a year-on-year increase of 9.7% and a net increase of 35,000 from the end of the previous year. Among them, the total number of 4G base stations was 5.82 million, accounting for 62.3%; the total number of 5G base stations was 819,000, of which 48,000 were newly built from January to March.
