MIIT: Continue to improve IPv6 network capabilities & accelerate the improvement of the application ecosystem

As of May 2021, the number of IPv6 addresses in my country has reached 59030 blocks (/32), ranking first in the world. The number of active IPv6 users in my country has reached 528 million, accounting for 53.39% of the total number of Internet users.

According to Gongxin Weibao, today, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology held a national deployment and implementation meeting for the three-year IPv6 traffic increase special action to carry out the "IPv6 traffic increase three-year special action plan (2021-2023)" for the information and communication industry (below Referred to as the "Three-year Action Plan") policy interpretation and publicity deployment.

The meeting emphasized that it is necessary to organize all relevant enterprises to focus on the overall goal of IPv6 traffic improvement proposed in the "Three-year Action Plan", accurately grasp the goal requirements and key tasks, and implement them one by one to ensure actual results.

 

• One is to lay a solid foundation and continue to improve IPv6 network capabilities;

• The second is to achieve breakthroughs and accelerate the improvement of the IPv6 application ecology;

• The third is to clear the "blocking points" and accelerate the improvement of fixed terminal IPv6 support capabilities;

• The fourth is to ensure security and coordinate to improve IPv6 security assurance capabilities.

The data previously disclosed by the Central Office of the Cyberspace Administration of China showed that as of May 2021, my country's IPv6 address ownership reached 59,030 blocks (/32), ranking first in the world. The number of active IPv6 users in my country reached 528 million, accounting for 53.39% of the total number of Internet users.
