Beijing: 63,000 5G base stations will be opened by 2025
The "Plan" shows that Beijing will vigorously
promote the construction of new digital infrastructure such as 5G networks,
broadband networks, communication networks, and mobile Internet of Things.
Among them, in terms of 5G networks, 63,000 5G base stations are planned to be
completed and opened in the city by the end of 2025.
The "Beijing’s "14th Five-Year" Information
and Communication Industry Development Plan" (hereinafter referred to as
the "Plan") issued by the Beijing Municipal Administration of
Communications a few days ago proposes that by the end of 2025, 63,000 5G base
stations will be built and opened in the city, basically realizing cities and
counties. , Townships, administrative villages and main roads are continuously
covered.
The "Plan" shows that Beijing will vigorously

broadband networks, communication networks, and mobile Internet of Things.
Among them, in terms of 5G networks, 63,000 5G base stations are planned to be

continuous coverage of cities, counties, towns, administrative villages and
main roads.
The first is to improve the 5G coverage level of key
scenarios, and prioritize continuous 5G network coverage in key areas such as
central urban areas, urban sub-centers, Yizhuang Economic and Technological Development
Zone, Future Science City, and Huairou Science City. During the "14th
Five-Year Plan" period, 25,000 5G base stations will be built, bringing
the total to 63,000, and a high-quality, large-scale independent 5G network
will be built. The second is to optimize the network architecture, reduce
operation and maintenance costs, vigorously promote the construction of C-RAN
networking, and achieve 90% of the full macro base station C-RAN deployment by
the end of the "14th Five-Year Plan". The third is to accelerate the
construction of 5G industry virtual private networks in the fields of
industrial Internet and Internet of Vehicles. Actively introduce technologies
such as network slicing and edge computing to further enhance 5G network
service capabilities and have large-scale end-to-end network slicing
capabilities.
According to data released by the Beijing Municipal
Administration of Communications, as of the end of April 2021, Beijing has
opened a total of 56,400 5G base stations, realizing access to key functional
areas such as the capital functional core area, Beijing city sub-center, CBD,
and Olympic central area. Full coverage of 5G network.
