GSMA said that by the end of 2025, 5G will account for a little more than one-fifth of the total mobile connections, and more than two-fifths of the world's people will live within the coverage of 5G networks. In the next 5 years, 5G will account for 80% of total capital expenditures.

According to the report, 157 commercial 5G networks including 55 FWA networks have been deployed in 62 markets around the world.

In addition, as of the end of March, there were 234 million connections in the 5G field, accounting for 4% of all mobile connections. GSMA also reported that more than 600 5G devices have been released, of which more than 400 devices are now commercialized.

"As 5G begins to expand to more devices beyond smartphones, new commercialization opportunities will emerge. New 5G applications and form factors surrounding augmented and virtual reality technologies have already achieved this," GSMA said.
