AT&T Announces That Its 5G Network Has Reached 250 Million People
Recently, the American Telephone and Telegraph Company
(AT&T) announced that its 5G network has covered 250 million citizens of
the United States, achieving this goal six months in advance.
AT&T said that many colleges and universities are
currently using its 5G network for data science, agriculture and mining
research, while medical institutions are used to speed up the processing of
medical data.
AT&T claims that it is ahead of T-Mobile America in millimeter wave, and plans to provide millimeter wave networks (called 5G+ by AT&T) in some areas and the same number of locations in more than 40 cities by the end of the year.
AT&T is currently preparing to deploy C-band spectrum
and claims that it will cover at least 70 million people by the end of 2022 and
at least 200 million people by the end of 2023.
AT&T increased its C-band coverage target after
announcing the split of WarnerMedia to Discovery. To this end, AT&T also
raised funds by selling the game studio Playdemic to EA and selling real
estate.
