According to data from the market research company Dell'Oro Group, in the field of 5G network equipment, the company's market share in the last four quarters was 10%-15%, ranking second only to Huawei, Ericsson, Nokia and ZTE, and ranking No. Five.

But Woojune Kim, executive vice president of Samsung's network business, said that Samsung is currently conducting 5G trials with European telecom companies. For example, in January this year, the company and Deutsche Telekom (Deutsche Telekom) completed the first 5G SA trials in the Czech Republic.

He added that in addition to Europe, Samsung is also seeking to expand in markets such as India, Australia and Southeast Asia.

It is understood that at present, Samsung's network equipment business is relatively small, with its 2020 revenue of 236.8 trillion won (212.5 billion US dollars). The company did not release a separate figure for this business, and most analysts did not estimate it.

Samsung said that since the start of 5G network deployment in various countries in 2019, the number of new customers for its 5G equipment and systems has increased by an average of 35% per year.

Samsung is promoting its virtualized RAN (Radio Access Network) technology, which allows telecommunications companies to freely use various combinations of off-the-shelf network equipment to connect users to the network, saving costs and providing flexibility.
