Ericsson and Spanish telecom operator Masmovil sign 5G SA agreement

According to foreign media reports, Swedish supplier Ericsson and Spanish telecom operator Masmovil signed a new agreement to upgrade the latter's 5G network using 5G Standalone technology.
It is reported that this new core network transformation project includes Ericsson's dual-mode 5G core, Ericsson cloud native infrastructure, Ericsson cloud IMS, automated CI/CD, Ericsson Orchestrator, CENX service assurance and 5G management services.
Ericsson said that the upgraded 5G network will enable Masmovil users to experience faster browsing and downloading speeds, and to use new services such as virtual reality or augmented reality in almost real time.
According to Ericsson, the capacity increase included in the agreement will also allow the Masmovil Group's 5G and VoLTE users to substantially increase the capacity, including prepaid services.

Masmovil currently provides 5G services in more than 300 cities and towns in Spain.
