On June 6, 2019, my country officially issued 5G commercial licenses; at the end of October of the same year, the three major communication operators announced the full realization of market commercialization. It will be three years in three days from June 6, 2022. What changes have these three years of 5G life brought us?

From the perspective of network construction, the total number of 5G base stations that have been built in my country exceeds 1.6 million, accounting for more than 60% of the total number of 5G base stations in the world. At the end of this year, with the completion of the 700M 5G network of China Mobile Radio and Television, my country also has a 5G base network that can deeply cover the whole country. And according to the plan of the four major communication operators, the total number of base stations will exceed 2 million by the end of the year.

From the perspective of user scale, as of the end of April, the cumulative number of 5G users in my country has reached 413 million, accounting for about a quarter of the number of mobile phone users in the country. 870 million households, more than half of the total number of mobile phone users. Even if this number is placed globally, it occupies an absolute position. For example, there is data at the end of 2021 as proof: the global 5G users will be about 700 million by the end of 2021. As for 5G terminals, hundreds of flowers are blooming now, and user purchases are already the only first choice for 5G. Relevant data shows that as of the end of March 2022, there are 761 products that have obtained 5G terminal network access licenses.

From the perspective of 5G applications, there is no obvious killer business at the consumer level, and the current user experience is simply "fast", unlike SMS in 2G, multimedia in 3G, and the booming mobile Internet in 4G. The industry has undergone great changes caused by the overall improvement of the industry and experience. However, from the perspective of industry applications, the current commercial use is gradually entering the perfect stage: it is reported that my country has deployed more than 5,325 industry virtual private networks, covering 40 of the 97 categories of the national economy. For example, China Telecom's 5G application in the coal industry and China Mobile's mobile audio and video 5G application are already at the leading level in the industry.

Although our country's 5G development is ahead of the global average, it still hasn't reached the early expectations-whether it is for the industry or for individuals, compared to 4G, it is only a simple speed increase. There is still insufficient training, which is also the main reason why many people do not plan to replace 5G mobile phones, and under the influence of the general environment, the year-on-year shipments of the domestic 5G mobile phone market have fallen sharply this year.
