According to the news from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, on May 12, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology held a 5G/6G special meeting, listening to IMT-2020(5G)/IMT-2030(6G) promotion group experts’ report on the progress of 5G and 6G work, and introducing domestic The latest situation of 5G and the future development of 6G.

According to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, with the joint efforts of the industry, my country has achieved a leading advantage in the development of 5G. A total of 819,000 5G base stations have been built, accounting for approximately 70% of the world’s total. The number of 5G mobile phone terminal user connections has reached 280 million, accounting for more than 80%.

The number of 5G standard-essential patent declarations accounted for more than 38%, an increase of nearly 5 percentage points since the first half of last year, ranking first in the world.

For 6G, the meeting of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology fully affirmed the outstanding achievements of the IMT-2030 (6G) promotion team since its establishment in 2020, and has formed a number of important research results in terms of 6G vision requirements and potential key technologies.

The meeting of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology requested the IMT-2030(6G) promotion group to further plan ahead, strengthen research, and promote 6G development with stability and progress.

One is to conduct in-depth research on 6G application scenarios.

On the basis of existing 5G, combined with technological evolution and economic and social development trends, research and propose future 6G vision requirements and application scenarios.
