The opportunities 5G brings to the Internet of Things
What is 5G
5G as the fifth generation of mobile communication
technology, when it comes to 5G network, apart from faster internet speed, I
believe many people are not sure about 5G it's application in other aspects,
because currently 5G network is not really applied in the Chinese market, so
what is the difference between it and 2G, 3G, 4G, network?
The most obvious difference is the speed. When 4G networks
started to take over the market around 2010, we would feel that the speed
became very fast, downloading a movie, transferring a video, file or photo
etc., finally we don't have to wait as hard as we did with 2/3G networks,
however, all this is nothing in front of 5G networks.
So, just how fast will our upcoming 5G network be? It is
said to have a peak theoretical transmission speed of several 10Gb per second,
so you could say that an Ultra HD movie could be downloaded in less than 1
second, pushing the mobile market to a whole new level.
What is the Internet of Things
The Internet of Things (IoT) is a network of information
sensing devices such as radio frequency identification, infrared sensors,
global positioning systems and laser scanners, which simply means that
everything is connected and any object can be connected to the Internet for
information exchange and communication to achieve intelligent identification,
positioning, tracking, monitoring and management of objects.
The impact of 5G on the Internet of Things
After 3G and 4G have gone from being unfamiliar concepts to
being widely used in the market, the 5G era is coming to us. The major telecom
operators are putting their main focus on IoT and investing more in it. From
the perspective of IoT application, the current communication technology (4G
communication) cannot meet the multi-point access, one is the low communication
rate, and the other is the poor anti-interference.
The advantages of 5G just make up for the defects of 4G,
paving the way for the IoT to be realized in smart transportation, smart grid,
bringing new opportunities to the IoT. NB-IoT IoT has low latency, more
connections and ultra-low power consumption, which largely solves the reasons
for the poor development of the IoT previously and brings life to the IoT. IoT
is the core of big data, cloud computing and artificial intelligence. Its data
is real-time and high-frequency, which is truly big data and the basis for the
realization of artificial intelligence in the future. The true realization of
the interconnection of everything, for example, the current smart car, is
essentially just a car supported by IoT technology.
