5G construction enters the fast lane, "string" role to stimulate the new vitality of the digital economy

2022.03.04

Technology and other 12 departments recently jointly issued a notice on the "Circular to promote the steady growth of the industrial economy", proposing to accelerate the construction of major projects of new infrastructure and guide telecommunications operators to speed up the progress of 5G construction. Recently, the "two sessions" around the end, this year's "new infrastructure" focus has also been clear. In this context, 12 departments are urging telecom operators to speed up the progress of 5G construction, in fact, to further play the role of 5G "string", through the information infrastructure construction, information transmission, information applications, so as to stimulate the new vitality of the digital economy. 1.5G construction will take a new step forward On June 6, 2019, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued 5G commercial licenses, and in less than three years, China's 5G construction achievements are evident to all. By the end of 2021, 1.425 million 5G base stations have been built in China. At present, the number of 5G base stations in China accounts for more than 70% of the world. All prefecture-level cities, more than 97% of counties and 40% of towns and cities in China have 5G network coverage. According to the latest White Paper on 5G Development and Economic and Social Impacts in China by 2021 released by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, 5G is expected to directly drive total economic output of RMB 1.3 trillion and direct economic value added of about RMB 300 billion in 2021. This year, China's 5G construction is expected to take another step forward. In the recently concluded "two sessions" around the world, "5G construction" is still a "hot word". Shanghai will build 8,000 new 5G outdoor base stations this year; Henan will add 40,000 new 5G base stations; Yunnan will build 20,000 new 5G base stations and promote 5G convergence and innovation applications ...... It is expected that by the end of 2022, China's 5G base stations will exceed 2 million and the number of 5G terminal connections will reach 600 million. 2. New Infrastructure Empowering Digital Economy Upgrade From the recent publication of "Certain Policies to Promote Stable Growth of Industrial Economy" and the contents of local "two meetings", it is clear that new infrastructure will not only further speed up this year, but also further empower the upgrade of digital economy. On the policy side, in January this year, the State Council issued the "14th Five-Year Plan for the Development of Digital Economy", proposing that by 2025, the value added of the core industries of China's digital economy will account for 10% of GDP, up from 7.8% in 2020. In February, the "East Digital West Calculation" project was officially launched ...... On the economic front, benefiting from new infrastructure, China's digital economy is showing vigorous vitality. According to the estimation of China Academy of Information and Communication Technology, the investment in new infrastructure in China will reach 10.6 trillion yuan during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, accounting for about 10% of the investment in social infrastructure; from 2021 to 2023, the investment in data center industry may reach 1.4 trillion yuan; from 2020 to 2025, the cumulative investment in 5G network construction will reach 1.2 trillion yuan, driving the investment in the upstream and downstream of the industry chain and the application of various industries to more than 3.5 trillion yuan. 3.5 trillion yuan. 3.5G "string" will play a greater role 5G, as a part of the communication infrastructure chain, has the attribute of cross-border integration in technology, and the integration with the new generation of ICT technology, traditional industries and emerging terminals, just like a "string", on the one hand, provides high-speed transmission channels for the transmission of huge amounts of data and information, on the other hand, it also connects various modules such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing and big data, and will generate more new industries, new business models and new modes. In terms of industrial economy The higher the penetration rate of 5G, the higher the efficiency of the communication infrastructure and the stronger the coverage will be, and its strong connection capability and connection method will accelerate the realization of the technological change of the industry with digitization, networking and intelligence as the main direction. With the deepening of 5G commercialization in China, it will promote all-round changes in the economy and society, injecting strong momentum into industrial transformation and upgrading and high-quality economic development, and the industrial scale of digital economy will also be rapidly enlarged. In the consumer economy In the 5G environment, new consumption patterns will emerge, e-commerce, mobile payment and other innovative applications will continue, the upgrade of the consumer Internet will promote structural changes in the domestic production and consumption cycle, the overlap of information technology innovation and new consumer demand or the formation of a superposition effect, aggregation effect, multiplier effect, accelerate the stimulation of market vitality, giving rise to new production methods. It is believed that in the near future, 5G will play an increasingly important role in realizing the transformation of new and old dynamics and promoting high-quality economic development in China.
